Welcome to a New Newsletter:
As you can tell the newsletter has gone through a little revision. Rick Andrews, the author of this letter for so many years has officially retired, Paul Marchi is now the chief editor of the quarterly letter. GPM will continue to publish the letter quarterly with some new features and a new layout. We hope you gain some useful information from it. Please let us know your thoughts
Happenings:
During the first quarter of the year GPM participated in two different events: AHR in Orlando, and ConEXPO in Las Vegas. Both shows were outstanding and were a great opportunity for us to reach out to connect with our existing distribution network, OEMS, and even a few end users, as well as meet new possible distributors and OEMs.
Coming into 2020, DP Pumps has been busy. AHR in Orlando was a huge success for us. We contacted and appointed new distributors, some of whom have already bought DP’s. We reconnected with existing distributors and OEM’s as well.
New for DP is going to be an upgrade to the selection software. DP already has a great sizing program (DP Select) that you can utilize for a new application, but also has the ability to cross over and compare against many of our leading competitions pumps. If you haven’t seen this software reach out to our salesforce to get you the download and then do a demo together to demonstrate the features and benefits or our selection software.
Even better, coming this year, the selection software updates this year will include the DPHI horizontal and others.
Additionally, we are hearing rumors of new sizes and options for existing pumps.
As many of you know, but few remember, HDL is the “Original;” Ball Check valve. The HDL Ball Check was the standard for a major submersible pump manufacturer for a number of years (if you want to know the company, just ask). These valves can be used for a standard check valve application or as an air release valve. Ranging in sizes up to 12” we can help you out on short notice.
Magdrive pumps are well known in very specific industries for working in applications where having the possibility of a leak, either from packing or a failed mechanical seal is unacceptable. Utilizing the original designs from Caster pump that first started in 1976, Green pumps is a solid option. The best part is that the GreenPumps and Caster parts are interchangeable, as are the pump bodies. With bodies from stainless steel to polypropylene let’s look at new applications in hazardous environments. When working with customer let them know “GreenPumps” is “Caster Pumps!”
A little while ago GPM published a four-page internal gear pump bulletin titled “Why Victor”. If you haven’t seen it, the bulletin talks about short delivery times for non-standard versions. We have attached a pdf copy of the bulletin for your perusal. If you like the bulletin, let us know we can get you some (and even add your own logo to it).
Our major competitor has name recognition, installed population and stock, probably thru 6” pumps, at their major distributors. The big guys have weakness when it comes to special materials, jackets, Tung/Car bushes and idler gears, their delivery goes to pot. That’s our chance. We are price competitive and usually much better delivery on special construction.
Victor Pumps’ history stems from a third-generation pump family. Paolo Varisco, the President of Victor, has been around pumps from the time he was born. His father, Vittorio Varisco, founded Victor Pumps after working for Varisco Pump Company for his father Ettorio. The Victor history is further delineated in the bulletin attached.
At the present time we are doing very well in the frying oil business (Cast iron pumps with Tung/Car idler bush and idler pin).
Victor also has an amazing Self-priming Pump.
This company, located in Milan, Italy, is known for designing and manufacturing customized centrifugal pumps for the most difficult abrasive and acidic applications. They are currently working on a project with one of their biggest pumps, model A330 rated for at least 7000 GPM and with a maximum pressure of 250 ft, that will have interchangeable parts either rubber lined or made of hard alloy. The new pump will be developed in a double stage version as well (pressure up to 500 ft) to be used on the biggest filter presses in the world. The first prototypes are expected at the end of 2020.
Sales Tip for the Month:
One of the biggest advantages that we have with DP pumps over our competition is our pumps are in stock in St. Louis, and can get them shipped out to you in a short time period. Have a need let’s see how quick we can get the pump in your hands and into theirs.
The Future:
I know it is a little early as we are just entering the second quarter of the year, but GPM and DP pump will be at the Bi-Annual ASPE show being held this year in New Orleans in September. Please let us know if you will be attending and we can plan a time to meet. Need info let us know!
We are already working on the Second Quarter Newsletter. If there is a specific topic you would like addressed, please let us know.
Best Regards,
Connor, Dan, Tom, Debbie and Paul “The GPM Team!!”
